SOUND BEGINNINGS App Reviews

I got this for my 5yo daughter for some extra practice determining the first sound in a word. She knows her letters by name and sound. I really like the options available for customizing the game. The parent can choose to have the child pick out the sound at the beginning, middle or end of a word. The parents can also determine how many possible answers are supplied, and how many questions in a round. Very easy to use. Just download and youre off! My only complaint is that often the picture is confusing and its not obvious what word they mean by it. So I end up having to sit with her to make sure she understands what the picture is supposed to be. And Im no zoology major but Im pretty sure one of the pictures was a hawk, but they wanted her to think it was an owl. My 7yo, 9yo, and 12yo all agreed it looked like a hawk. If youre looking for something for your child to do on his/her own, this may not be the app. But Im also guessing that maybe after using it a while, the pictures should recycle through and the child will just learn what theyre supposed to be.
